As part of the "Youth for Rights and Inclusion" project, supported by the European Union in BiH, through the Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR), the second workshop for young Roma was held last week. The project is realized by CARE International Balkans in co-operation with partner organizations UŽR "Better Future" Tuzla and "Otaharin" from Bijeljina.

Over 20 young Roma from Tuzla, Bijeljina, Prnjavor, Vitez, Donji Vakuf and Travnik gathered at the workshop, which was an opportunity for them to plan their actions. According to the plan, 15 small initiatives will be implemented soon in the whole of BiH, with financial support.

The projects / initiatives will focus on education, health care, the distribution of hygienic and other humanitarian packages, less infrastructure remedies in Roma settlements, the strengthening of awareness of solidarity and healthy lifestyles, and will be realized in the next two months.

"These young people have already shown that their fellow countrymen are alive and want to make changes. These are small initiatives, but it is important, as an example, in one of them, 10 elderly and inexperienced people get support to feel they are not forgotten, that tens of Roma children will get books for school, 10 women will receive education and health protection. The top 5 youths will be given the opportunity to be employed throughout the Project. We want to send a message to all young people that activism can be a "tool" and a way to change our lives and the lives of our fellow citizens, "said Ševko Bajic, project manager.

During the duration of the project, at least 40 young Roma and Romani from the mentioned places will be included in the educational, and by 2018, the top 5 employment will be planned to continue working in their communities.
