On 11 March 2020, the Tuzla Community Foundation organized a forum on the role of women in the development of local democracy. The aim of the Forum was to update the topic of gender equality and to encourage women to become more involved in community life and fight for their rights, but also to raise awareness of the under-representation of women in decision-making processes.

The forum was held on the premises of the Kiseljak Community Center. Panelists were Indira Bajramovic, president of the Roma Women Association "Bolja buducnost" , Aida Mustacevic Cipurkovic, educator and psychotherapist at Vive zene Tuzla, Amela Kukuruzovic, educator at Kiseljak Elementary School, Azra Beganovic, member of the Tuzla City Council for housing and activist of the Young Roma Club.

One of the conclusions of this Forum is: The fight for gender equality must start from the beginning - from our birth through all the social systems in which we learn and educate: family, school, work, politics - systems that are built on the values of patriarchy.

A significant resource in all are civil society organizations offering their information, education and support programs with their capacities, but these CSO' cannot take the responsibility of institutional systems in providing services and creating the conditions for equality.
